Two community conversations scheduled to discuss large-scale solar in Vernon County

Sept. 5, 2025

HILLSBORO, Wis. — Vernon County residents will have two opportunities this October to join a public conversation about the future of large-scale solar development in rural Wisconsin. The events are hosted by UW–Madison Extension Vernon County

As solar developers increasingly approach landowners about leasing property for utility-scale installations, organizers say the forums are designed to provide clear information, address community concerns, and ensure local voices are part of the planning process.

Participants will learn about Wisconsin’s renewable energy goals, hear from experts on landowner rights and grid infrastructure, and have the opportunity to share their perspectives in a welcoming setting. Free food and beverages will be provided.

Event Details:

Saturday, October 4 from 1–4 p.m.
Hillsboro Firemen’s Community Center

Tuesday, October 7 from 5–8 p.m.
Westby Community Center

Organizers request that attendees RSVP in advance to help plan for refreshments.
