Twelfth annual Harvest Parade planned for October

Sept 17, 2024

VIROQUA, Wis.—The Viroqua Harvest Parade returns for its 12th year on Saturday, Sept 28, starting at 3 p.m. The parade celebrates community, art, and the harvest season.

The parade is a human-powered, handmade, large-scale puppet parade and is open to all ages to either be in the parade or watch it. Kids and adults who wish to be in the parade can either prepare their own harvest-themed costumes at home, attend the community puppet build the weekend of Sept 14 and 15, or come to a costume sign-up at WDRT on Thursday, Sept 26, from 2–5 p.m. Anyone in the parade should come to the parade lineup at the Pleasant Ridge Waldorf School playground on parade day, Sept 28, by 2 p.m.

The tentative parade route (which could change based on upcoming road construction along Main Street) will head west on Jefferson, south on Rusk, west on Terhune, then travel north along Rock Street and into Eckhart Park via Court Street. The celebration then continues at the park with a variety of musical performances and food vendors and concludes with a performance by Rensa Fire, a local fire dancing group.
