Treasurer in town of Adrian, Monroe County, charged with embezzling $294,000

MONROE COUNTY, Wis. – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 50-year-old Kelly Schleusener, who is the Treasurer for the town of Adrian in Monroe County. The Sheriff’s report states that Schleusener was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 25, after an investigation revealed she had been stealing funds from the township.

The report goes on to say Schleusener was arrested after an investigation found that she had been withdrawing sums of money from the township accounts since April of 2022. The investigation found that in total she had stolen over $294,000.

Schleusener was booked into the Monroe County Jail on charges of misconduct in office and theft. The Sheriff’s Office states additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.

Schleusener will have her bond hearing on Thursday, February 27th, at 1:00pm.
