Tomah man arrested on attempted homicide charge for stabbing incident

TOMAH, Wis. – Tomah police say a Tomah man is in custody and faces numerous charges, including attempted homicide, following an investigation into a stabbing victim that showed up at the Tomah Hospital on Thursday.

A report from the Tomah Police Department states that on Thursday, Nov. 28, at approximately 10:17 p.m they responded to Tomah Health for a report of a stabbing victim. Tomah Officers learned the stabbing victim was dropped off at Tomah Health with life threatening injuries. The victim was subsequently transported to another hospital for advanced medical care. The victim remains hospitalized.

Tomah Police officers and investigators say they had very limited information at the start of this investigation but information eventually led them to an address on Carol Kay St. in the City of Tomah. At that location a suspect identified as Justin T. Novak, 33, of Tomah was located and taken into custody. Novak is currently being held at the Monroe County Jail.

The investigation revealed the stabbing occurred at 605 Kilbourn Ave. in the City of Tomah. Tomah Investigators obtained a search warrant for this address and today, Saturday, Nov. 30, the Monroe County Combined Tactical Unit served the search warrant at this address.

According to police Novak is facing possible charges of first-degree homicide (attempted), reckless injury, recklessly endangering safety, battery and disorderly conduct.
