Three-vehicle crash injures several at highway intersection in Crawford County

TOWN OF CLAYTON, Wis. — Several people suffered minor injuries Wednesday in a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 61 and County Highway X, according to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said Heather Alexander, 46, of Soldiers Grove, was driving a 2015 sport utility vehicle westbound on County Highway X when she attempted to cross U.S. Highway 61 to continue west. Her vehicle collided with the driver’s side of a southbound cargo van driven by Jesse Johnson, 36, of Onalaska.

Following the initial collision, the van overturned, crossed into the northbound lane of U.S. Highway 61 and struck the driver’s side of a northbound pickup truck driven by Michael Schnoebelen, 73, of Moline, Illinois. The van then entered a ditch and came to rest on its passenger side, authorities said.

Alexander and her passenger were not injured. Johnson and his passenger sustained minor injuries. Schnoebelen and his four passengers were transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

The vehicles sustained significant damage, and two were towed from the scene.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by local fire and rescue agencies, the county highway department and towing companies.

The crash remains under investigation.
