State Senator Pfaff introduces legislation to lower prescription drug costs

State Senator Brad Pfaff

Madison, Wis. – Today, State Senator Brad Pfaff (D – Onalaska) and legislative colleagues introduced legislation to create the Office of Prescription Drug Affordability and the Prescription Drug Affordability Review Board. Under this bill, the state of Wisconsin would focus on bringing awareness and transparency to prescription drug prices. The legislation would create a review panel of prescription drug costs and their impact on the people of Wisconsin, and the bill would establish payment limits and prevent skyrocketing costs Wisconsinites pay for necessary prescription drugs.

Senator Pfaff released the following statement on the bill:

“Too often, Wisconsin residents are forced to choose between being able to afford their prescription drugs and other essentials like rent and groceries.”

“No one should be forced to ration or skip the medication they need because it is too expensive. Relief for Wisconsinites to afford their medications is long overdue. I’m proud to introduce legislation to increase transparency in prescription drug pricing for consumers and lower prescription drug costs so everyone in Wisconsin can afford their medications.”

“This legislation is a simple, straightforward solution to address the high cost of prescription drugs. Greater transparency in prescription drug prices and ways to control their costs puts more money in the pocket of our constituents and is good for our state.”
