State Senator Brad Pfaff who once defeated fellow Democrat Rebecca Cooke in a primary for Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District has already endorsed Cooke as she runs for that seat for a third time. In a written statement Pfaff said Cooke is the right candidate to represent Western Wisconsin.

“I am proud to endorse Rebecca Cooke for Congress. Rebecca will always put Western Wisconsin first and brings a background rooted in agriculture and small business to deliver for us in Washington,” said Pfaff. “In 2024, despite a challenging election year, Rebecca nearly flipped this seat. I know she has what it takes to win, and I know she will work hard to solve the problems facing working families in Congress.”
Cooke first ran for the 3rd congressional seat in 2022 when she lost a three way primary to Pfaff. Republican Derrick Van Orden later defeated Pfaff in the November general election.
Last year, Cooke emerged from another three-way Democratic primary to challenge Van Orden for the seat. Van Orden went on to defeat Cooke in November by just under 3 percentage points, or just over 11,000 votes. Cooke outperformed both Kamala Harris and Tammy Baldwin in her district, and only lost by 3% to a staunch Trump ally in a district Trump won by 7%.
Cooke also accepted the endorsement of Independent U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont last week, and also has the support of moderate Democrats like the New Democrat Coalition and Blue Dog Democrats.
