Gov. Tony Evers recently signed a $9.7 million contract to resurface Wisconsin Hwy. 82 between Wisconsin Hwy. 35 in De Soto and Wisconsin Hwy. 27 in Vernon County. Construction on the project started today, May 20 and is expected to be reopened by Sept. 13.
According to the WISDot improvements will include upgraded pavement , ride quality and safety by resurfacing Hwy. 82 between Hwy. 35 and Hwy. 27, according to a press release from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Curb and gutter and guardrail will be replaced, new pavement markings added and repair work to nine box culverts.
Hwy. 82 will be closed to through traffic and detoured using Wisconsin Hwy. 56 and U.S. Hwy. 14 starting May 28 through Sept. 13. For the remainder of construction Hwy. 82 will remain open under flagging operations.
Project completion is scheduled for Oct. 31. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress. Iverson Construction is the prime contractor for the project.
