Habitat for Humanity and the City of Hillsboro are thrilled to host a Hillsboro Housing Development Sneak Peek event on Friday, October 25, at the Hillsboro Community Center. All are welcome to learn about the 10-home development in Hillsboro’s Tinkers Bluff neighborhood. Attendees will see house designs, hear from project leaders, and celebrate the start of this transformative development.
The collaboration is designed to address the need for affordable homes for local workers in the Hillsboro area and enhance the quality of life for residents. The ten homes will be available to families across various income levels, creating a vibrant, mixed-income development.
- Three homes will be reserved for Habitat for Humanity partner families, who will purchase them using a 0% interest mortgage.
- Three homes are for first-time homebuyer families making less than 80% of the county median income.
- The remaining four homes will be sold to buyers whose household income is no more than 120% of the county median.
All homes in the development will be outfitted with a solar array and solar backup, ensuring that clean energy will power these homes and that future homeowners can save money on energy bills. All ten properties will be CrossMod homes—a new class of manufactured housing that offers a sustainable, affordable, and high-quality option for communities across the county. The houses are designed to fit in seamlessly with existing housing. The CrossMod has architectural elements and specifications that exceed minimum HUD standards.
Following the Sneak Peek event, community members are welcome to drive through the Tinkers Bluff area and see signage that displays the future homes at each of the ten locations. Maps will be provided.
