Single‑vehicle crash in Town of Union results in minor injuries

March 3, 3036

On Saturday, Feb. 28 at approximately 6:30 p.m., the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office 911 Dispatch Center received an automated crash detection notification on State Highway 82 near County Road A in the Town of Union, rural La Farge.

Nichole Stuber, 43, of rural Westby, was operating a pickup truck and reported encountering a slippery section of roadway, causing her to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle left the roadway, traveled through a fence, and went down a steep embankment before coming to rest upright against a tree.

Stuber and her passenger sustained apparent minor injuries but declined ambulance transport at the scene. Both occupants were wearing seat belts, and the front airbags deployed.

Assisting the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office at the scene were the La Farge Area Ambulance, La Farge Volunteer Fire Department, Kickapoo Valley Reserve Police, and the Richland County Sheriff’s Office.
