Sex offender released in Sparta

SPARTA, Wis. – The Sparta Police Department issued a statement in Monday that a registered sex offender is being released in their community.

Age: 53
Offenses include: Possession of Child Pornography

The Sparta Police Department said they are releasing the information pursuant to WIS. Statute 301 _46(2m) which authorizes law enforcement agencies to inform the public of a sex offender’s release when, in the discretion of the agency, the release of information will enhance public safety, awareness and protection.

The statement goes on to say Anderson will be homeless in the City of Sparta upon his release in early September, according to the Department of Corrections. The Sparta Police Department will update the community if we obtain information regarding his area of residency.

Anderson will be under supervision through the State of Wisconsin Department of Corrections and is a lifetime registrant of the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry with electronic monitoring.

The individual in this notification has been convicted of a sex offense. This notice is not intended to increase fear, rather it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public. Sex offenders have always lived within our communities, but it was not until Wisconsin’s Sex Offender Registration and Community Notification Laws were enacted that law enforcement was able to share this information with the community. Citizen abuse of this information to threaten, intimidate, or harass registered sex offenders will not be tolerated.
