Most of the congressional districts in the state are not competitive, leading to lopsided victories for many U.S. House incumbents here.
Wisconsin is one of the most closely contested states in the country when it comes to elections, and it was the tightest in the 2024 election, where President-Elect Donald Trump won it by less than 1%.
But the state’s political geography, with many left-leaning voters clustering in two relatively small areas — Madison and Milwaukee — and Democrats’ collapse in rural areas, means the congressional districts greatly favor Republicans. The GOP currently holds six of the eight congressional seats here, and Democrats appear to have a serious chance of winning only one more district. At least at the moment.
The Badger Project put together this graphic to compare how many votes each congressional representative in the state got, and how the totals compare to each other.
We also included their margin of victory against their challenger, though they are in order by total votes received, not percentage.
