Scott Lind to present “Protecting Our Night Skies” at Viroqua Library “Meet Your Neighbor”

VIROQUA, Wis. – The McIntosh Memorial Library hosts a monthly program called Meet Your Neighbor. The program is an opportunity to hear from area leaders about local topics of interest. The May featured program titled will be presented by Scott Lind. Lind will be at the library on Friday, May 17 at 10:00am to talk about how to implement the use of dark-sky-friendly outdoor lighting to save energy, reduce glare, benefit wildlife, help prevent light pollution & preserve our night skies.

Poorly executed and excess outdoor lighting is rapidly degrading the night for all of us with a glare and loss of true darkness even many miles from small cities. Recognizing there are legitimate needs for outdoor lighting, Lind will explain how to help preserve the night sky, enhance safety, save energy, and protect other species from harm.

Locally the Kickapoo Valley Dark Sky Initiative is a conservation initiative focused on providing education and resources for individuals, businesses, and communities to prevent light pollution and protect dark skies in the Kickapoo Valley, and beyond.

Scott Lind is a licensed professional electrical engineer and master electrician who has worked for 35 years on a wide variety of power and lighting designs.
