Schofield man arrested in connection to hit and run that resulted in damage to multiple parked cars

HILLSBORO, Wis. – Vernon County Sheriff Roy Torgerson and Hillsboro Chief of Police Patrick Clark report the arrest of a Schofield, Wis. man believed to be responsible for striking several vehicles in downtown Hillsboro on Saturday night, and then leaving the scene.

According to a Vernon County Sheriff’s Department report, at approximately 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, the Sheriff’s Office 911 Dispatch Center began receiving calls reporting that a vehicle struck multiple legally parked vehicles on Water Avenue, in downtown Hillsboro.  The operator of the striking vehicle did not stop, and was last seen traveling north on Water Avenue.

The report goes on to say that at approximately 12:15 a.m., a vehicle matching the description of the striking vehicle was located at a different location in the northeast corner of the city.  The investigation continued and the operator was identified as Dylan Robert Allen Kuester, 30, of Schofield, Wis., and he was taken into custody at approximately 12:45 a.m.

The report states investigators believed alcohol was a contributing factor, and Kuester submitted to an evidentiary chemical test.  Kuester was later released to a responsible person and scheduled to appear in Vernon County Circuit Court on October 8, at 8:30 a.m.  Formal charges are being sought through Vernon County District Attorney Angela Palmer-Fisher.

Sheriff Torgerson and Chief Clark expressed his thanks for the diligent work and collaboration between the Sheriff’s Office, Hillsboro Police, Hillsboro Fire Department, Hillsboro Area Ambulance, and the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office.
