SCAM ALERT: Crawford County Sheriff warning residents of person impersonating a police officer

CRAWFORD COUNTY, Wis. – – The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office is reporting they have been receiving reports about an unknown male attempting to impersonate a police officer over the phone. According to the report the unknown male is calling random residents in our area, and he’s identifying himself as Sergeant John Walker with the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office Badge #6014. The man is calling from phone number 608-360-8079 or 608-306-8079, and he’s telling people that they have warrants for failure to appear, classified civil cases, etc.

At this time, the sheriff’s office recommends contacting and notifying your family and friends of this ongoing scam. Also, we would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to never give out any personal information over the phone. The sheriff’s office is attempting to identify the person or persons responsible. If you receive a call, have questions or have concerns, please contact the sheriff’s office at 608-326-8414.
