VIROQUA, Wis. – Vernon County Sheriff Roy Torgerson reports three teens were injured when their vehicle lost control on wet roads and overturned on Thursday in the town of Viroqua. According to the Sheriff the Sheriff’s Office 911 Dispatch Center was notified of a single-vehicle rollover crash around 8 p.m. on Thursday.
According to the report 17-year-old Carter J. Holmes of Viroqua was driving north on County Road J, near Rockwood Road. The roadway was wet, and the operator lost control.
The vehicle left the roadway, overturned, and came to rest, upright, in a field. Holmes and two passengers, a 16-year-old and a 14-year-old sustained minor injuries. and were transported to Vernon Memorial Healthcare by private vehicle.
Assisting the Sheriff’s Office were the Viroqua Police Department, Viroqua Fire Department, Viroqua Emergency Medical Responders, and Gundersen Tri-State Ambulance.
Sheriff Torgerson commended the three teens for wearing their seat belts. Torgerson said seat belts most certainly save lives and this case was likely no exception. Torgerson also commended the quick response by first responders.
