VIROQUA, Wis. – Rise & Shine Balloon Rally was held at the Vernon County Fairgrounds over the weekend. The event featured about 12 balloons as well food vendors, bounce houses and games for kids.
The weather was a bit too rough for balloons to take off on Saturday but Sunday morning was perfect and the balloons inflated and lifted off between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m.
The hot air balloon rally is in honor of Raette “Rae” (Tunison) Reynolds who died from a stroke in October 2019 at the age of 43. Janel Tunison, Reynolds’ sister, created the event as a fundraiser for the nonprofit, A Little RAE of Hope.
Tunison, who works in research in the medical field, said she also formed A Little RAE of Hope nonprofit in honor of her older sister to bring awareness of strokes and to help support stroke research and education.
