VIOLA, Wis. — Despite a rainy start and the absence of cows due to H5N1 testing requirements, the Viola Dairy Show saw 32 head exhibited and a strong showing of youth talent under the guidance of Judge Morgan Cavitt of Sun Prairie.
The event opened with Senior Showmanship, where Cavitt challenged exhibitors with rigorous questions and expected precision from both handlers and heifers. Intermediate, Beginning, and Tiny Tot Showmanship followed, with Cavitt praising the younger participants for their grasp of showring etiquette and offering hands-on guidance to sharpen their skills.
As the sun emerged, breed classes progressed with Junior Champions named in Ayrshire, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, Holstein, Jersey, Milking Shorthorn, and Any Other Dairy Breed. Anna Cornell’s Holstein Fall Calf earned Supreme Champion Heifer honors, with Cavitt noting the calf’s dairy character, size, and scale.
Cavitt commended the group for their sportsmanship and camaraderie, calling the youth “a great group” and expressing admiration for their professionalism and knowledge.
