Sept. 23, 2026
VIROQUA, Wis ––Paul Lee, chef and pastor of the Viroqua and Westby United Methodist Churches will lead a Korean Cooking Class for adults on Thursday, Sept. 24 beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the kitchen of the United Methodist Church in Viroqua.

Pastor Paul Lee has been serving the Viroqua and Westby United Methodist Churches since June 2024. Lee was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, and completed his Bachelor of Theology and Master of Theology degree courses at the Methodist Theological University in South Korea. Lee and his wife moved to the United States in 2018.
During the program Chef Paul will be demonstrating and cooking vegetarian recipes from Shin Kim’s cookbook, Korean Vegetarian Cooking. Everyone in the class will get to take home a free copy of the cookbook, and everybody gets a taste of all the dishes prepared by Lee.
Drawing from local, natural plant-based ingredients and traditional Korean vegetables available in the U.S., the book covers a wide range of vegan and vegetarian Korean dishes. From a variety of kimchi to everyday banchan sides, such as Scallion Pancakes, Spicy Soft Tofu Stew, and Glass Noodles with Vegetables, Korean home favorites are presented in clearly laid-out steps. Moreover, entrée dishes that traditionally feature animal protein are adapted as colorful, flavorful vegetarian dishes, such as Kimchi Dumplings, Mushroom Hot Pot, and Sweet and Sour Cauliflower.
The program is made possible from the ongoing support of UW-Madison’s Center for East Asian Studies, whose grants enrich patrons’ understanding of East Asia through new programming and materials. The McIntosh Memorial Library of Viroqua is one of 19 libraries in Wisconsin to be awarded a grant from this center and has been a past recipient.
Materials and seating are limited requiring registration for this program. Register by visiting www.mcintoshmemoriallibrary.org
