Our interview with recording artist Joan Osborne about her new album and upcoming performance at the Historic Temple Theatre

By Lisa Henner

Grammy nominee and multi-platinum selling artist, Joan Osborne will perform in Viroqua on Friday, October 25 at 8:00 PM at the Historic Temple Theatre. Osborne is touring in support of her eleventh studio album, the recently released Nobody Owns You, produced by Ben Rice (Valerie June, Norah Jones).

Osborne is a multi-faceted vocalist who performs in a diverse range of genres: pop rock, soul, R&B, blues, roots rock, gospel, funk, and country. Her 1995 album Relish was a critical and commercial success and spawned the international hit single and video “What If God Was One Of Us“. She has performed duets with Luciano Pavarotti, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Patti Smith, Emmylou Harris, Isaac Hayes and many others. After co-headlining at Lilith Fair in 1997, Osborne toured with the post-Jerry Garcia Dead (2003) and with Motown’s Funk Brothers.

Osborne joined us for a video interview last week where the conversation covered much of her thirty year career and tried to discover what makes this popular and unique artist keep producing music and touring. Tickets are still available for the concert on October 25 online at the Historic Temple Theatre or by phone 608-637-8190, or in-person at 116 S Main St, Viroqua, WI 54665, Wed & Thurs 1pm – 5pm.
