VIROQUA, Wis. – Vernon County Sheriff Roy Torgerson reports on Tuesday, April 30, at approximately 2:30 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office 911 Dispatch Center was notified of a
single vehicle crash the occurred in the town of Viroqua.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Erica D. Gylund, 56, of Bangor, Wis. was driving her vehicle east on State Highway 56, west of Cook Hill Road, in rural Viroqua. The reports states Gylund ran off the right side of the roadway while negotiating a curve to the left. The vehicle traveled
into a ditch, struck a tree, and overturned.
Gylund was wearing a seatbelt and the airbags deployed. Gylund sustained
minor injuries and declined medical treatment at the scene. Both lanes of travel were closed for about fifteen minutes and one lane was closed for an additional fifteen minutes.
Assisting the Sheriff’s Office were the Viroqua Fire Department, Viroqua Emergency
Medical Responders, and Gundersen Tri-State Ambulance.
The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
