TOMAH, Wis. – Norene A. (Conn) Ashbacher, age 78, of Tomah, WI, formerly of Ferryville, WI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 13, 2025. She was born in Wheatland Township on October 26, 1947, the daughter of Stephen D. and Fola M (Fritz) Conn. Norene worked as a librarian and seamstress. She was a caring and wonderful mother and grandmother who greatly enjoyed spending time with her family.
Norene is survived by her children: David (Niecy) Ashbacher, Nancy (Tim) Bauer, and Amy (Shannan) Ashbacher; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Steven (Mary) Conn; her ex-husband and friend, Arlyn Ashbacher; and a lifelong friend, Janice Beall.
In addition to her parents, Norene was preceded in death by her brothers: Richard, Donald, Douglas and William.
In keeping with her wishes, there will not be any formal public funeral services at this time. Popp Funeral and Cremation Services in Viroqua is providing care and assistance to her family.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Cranberry Court Assisted Living in Tomah, WI, and St. Croix Hospice for their loving care of Norene during her final months.
