Vernon County Sheriff Roy Torgerson reports a single -vehicle crash that occurred on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at approximately 2:00 a.m., on US Highway 14, in rural Viroqua, Wis. According to the Sheriff’s Office, 66-year-old Russell C. Harless of Viroqua was driving a pickup just north of County Road Y when he lost control. The report goes on to say the pickup rolled and came to rest on its left side, along the inside shoulder next to the median, along the southbound lanes.
Upon arrival of the first emergency units, the operator was exiting the vehicle through a passenger side window. No injuries were reported, however, that information was not readily available at the time of the initial call to the Sheriff’s Office 911 Dispatch Center.
Responding to the scene were the Sheriff’s Office, Viroqua Police Department, Westby Police Department, Viroqua Fire Department, Viroqua Emergency Medical Responders, and Gundersen Tri-State Ambulance as the temperature plummeted.
The highway was partially closed for approximately one hour.
