Multi-Vehicle Accident Downtown Viroqua

VIROQUA, Wis. – According to the Viroqua Police Department on Wednesday, August 16, at 3:49 p.m. they responded to a multi-vehicle accident at the intersection of N. Main Street and Church Street.

Accrdoing to a police department report Marvin Christianson, 80, of rural Viroqua was driving west on E. Church Street and failed to stop at the stop sign before entering Main Street. Christianson’s vehicle then entered Main Street into oncoming traffic at a high rate of speed and was struck by a northbound vehicle operated by Katherine Stinson, 37 of rural Westby. Stinson’s vehicle had an infant passenger. The report goes on to say Aubrey Peterson, 36, of rural Viroqua was stopped in the turn lane waiting to turn left onto E. Church Street. Peterson’s vehicle was struck by Stinson’s vehicle after it had struck the vehicle being operated by Christianson.

As a result of the accident, Christianson’s vehicle rolled multiple times. All three vehicles suffered significant damage and were towed from the scene. Minor injuries were reported. Christianson was transported to Vernon Memorial Hospital by Tri-State Ambulance. Stinson and her infant were taken by private vehicle for medical treatment, and Peterson reported no injuries. Assisting at the scene were the Viroqua Fire Department, Viroqua First Responders, Tri-State Ambulance, Sleepy Hollow, and River Valley Auto.
