READSTOWN, Wis. – A 10-year-old Amish boy who was reported missing sometime after noon on Wednesday was found safe in a cornfield several miles from his home just before 4 p.m. The search was officially under the jurisdiction of Crawford County but Vernon County Sheriff Roy Torgerson said his staff and numerous Vernon County agencies and resources joined the effort, and the outcome was positive for everyone.
Torgerson said the report originated in the Sugar Grove area south of Readstown and the boy was eventually located near North Clayton, several miles from the original location. Torgerson said drones, bloodhounds and good old fashioned detective work that turned up sightings of the boy, all played a part in the good outcome.
