Minnesota woman driving over 90 miles-per-hour faces multiple charges in Vernon County, including fleeing an officer

DeSoto, Wis. – The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Sunday, July 23 at 4:45 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received the first of two 911 calls reporting a pickup truck speeding south on State Highway 35, near Stoddard.  According to the Sheriff’s report there were also reports the vehicle was passing into oncoming traffic.

A Vernon County deputy sheriff met the vehicle near Victory and obtained a radar reading of 93 miles-per-hour.  The driver failed to stop for seven miles and deputies observed erratic, dangerous driving behavior.  The vehicle stopped in Crawford County near the Mississippi River Bridge to Lansing, Iowa. 

The driver, Jennifer Jo Taube, 43, of Paynseville, Minn. was taken into custody with the assistance of the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office and booked into the Vernon County Detention Center for.

Taube could face the following charges:

  1. Operating While Intoxicated
  2. Reckless Driving/Endangering Safety
  3. Fleeing an Officer
  4. Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  5. Resisting or Obstructing an Officer
  6. Open Intoxicants
  7. Possession of Methamphetamine

Formal charges will be sought through the Vernon County District Attorney’s Office.  After appearing in Vernon County Circuit Court on Monday, July 24, Taube was released on a $500.00 signature bond.  She is due back in court August 29, at 8:30 a.m.

The investigation continues by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office.
