Media conversion kits available at McIntosh Memorial Library

Due to overwhelming demand, McIntosh Memorial Library is pleased to announce the extension of its Media Conversion Kits program through January 31, 2025. These kits provide an opportunity for patrons to preserve cherished memories by converting outdated media formats into modern digital files.

Since the program launched on Nov. 21, patrons have been able to use these kits to convert VHS tapes to DVDs and 35mm film and slides to digital formats, and we’ve extended the availability to ensure more individuals can take advantage of this valuable service.

How It Works The media conversion kits are available for use daily at McIntosh Memorial Library. To reserve a time to use the kits, patrons can visit the library’s website at www.mcintoshmemoriallibrary.org, navigate to the Reservations tab, and select Equipment Reservations.

Patrons must bring their own DVDs and memory sticks to store the converted files and are asked to comply with all copyright restrictions. This service remains available at no charge, thanks to generous funding from the Winding Rivers Library System and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Don’t Miss Out! The kits are now available for use through January 31, 2025. This extended period gives everyone the chance to convert old media into digital formats, which are easier to store, share, and enjoy for years to come.

For more information or to reserve a time, please visit the library’s website or contact Maggie Strittmater, Adult Programming and Outreach Coordinator, at m.strittmater@wrlsweb.org or 608-637-7151 ext. 7.
