McIntosh Memorial Library announces lineup of youth activities for May

The McIntosh Memorial Library in Viroqua has released a list of youth activities scheduled for the month of May. 

Saturday, May 17: Youth Summer Reading Program Kick-Off

  • 12:00 pm-2:30 pm 
  • All Ages
  • Program Room
  • Our program room becomes a free bookstore of children‘s books! Choose a new or used title to own and read over the summer! Pick up your summer reading logs and learn more about what is being offered during our summer program. We will be serving snacks & boba tea!

Weekly Wednesdays, 3:30-4:30 PM: Library Garden Club

  • Join us to help tend the library garden! Whether you have a green thumb or are just getting started, this is a great opportunity to dig in, learn about plants, and enjoy some time outdoors. Come ready to weed, water, plant, and nurture our community green space. Tools and gloves provided!

Sat, May 17, 10:00 am- 12:00 pm: Stories & Service: Armed Forces Day Read-Aloud

  • Join us on Armed Forces Day as eight Army personnel take turns reading picture books in 15-minute sessions to local children. Celebrate with the service members from the local area and their dedication to the community through the joy of storytelling. This special event honors their service while fostering a love of reading among young listeners.

Fri, May 2nd, 5:00-6:00pm: Star Wars Day Celebration

  • Celebrate Star Wars Day with us a few days early by participating in a Star Wars podracing tournament on Nintendo Switch! Snacks will be provided, and Viroqua Bucks awarded to the fastest racer!

Thur, May 22, 5:00-6:00 pm: Cheese Night Taste Test

  • Get cheesy with The Noble Rind and enjoy a taste test experience as we sample different cheese and learn what other snacks and juices pair well with them!

Mon, May 19, 4:00-5:00 pm: Sweets and Treats with Rhythm Bakery

  • Kids and tweens will enjoy a fun baking experience in partnership with Rhythm Bakery as they learn how to make some sweet treats.

Bike Black Out Bingo: May 27- August 22

  • Explore Viroqua by bike, complete your bingo card, and enter for a chance to win a prize. One card per person—get biking this summer!

May 15, 3:30-4:30 pm: Healthy Relationships! with Michelle Thomas

  • Join us for an honest and empowering conversation about what makes a relationship healthy, respectful, and safe. This interactive session will help teens recognize positive relationship traits, set boundaries, and build confidence in communicating their needs. Snacks provided!

  • Join us at the library in reading to Zola the Therapy Dog.
