McIntosh Memorial Library to host JobPod grand opening

VIROQUA, Wis. – A ribbon cutting ceremony to launch a new community resource titled JobPod will be held at the McIntosh Memorial Library in Viroqua on Thursday, Feb. 26 at 11:30 a.m. JobPod, powered by Microsoft, is a self-enclosed space designed to facilitate easy and reliable access to job search resources for employment seekers by merging community library spaces with the expertise of workforce development professionals.

JobPod established the public library as a dependable bridge between job seekers, job search experts, and employers. The space allows job seekers to easily access job search resources, connect with workforce developments experts, and participate in online training for digital literacy and career development. JobPod breaks down barriers such as transportation and internet availability, clearing the way for individuals to connect with job seeker resources frequently and with confidence.

With the support of its founding partners, a JobPod has been placed at the McIntosh Memorial Library supporting the work of the Western Wisconsin Workforce Development Board of Directors. The City of Viroqua is the first location for a JobPod in the Workforce Development Board service area of eight counties representing district nine in the state.

“Being a Job Center isn’t located in the City of Viroqua the addition of the JobPod will aid in providing support to job seekers and local employers, “said Library Director Trina Erickson. “I’m very honored the Workforce Development Board of Directors selected Viroqua as the location for the first JobPod in their service area.”

At the ribbon cutting ceremony representatives from Nelson Global Products of Viroqua and Westby Cooperative Creamery will speak about the partnership they have in place with the library to use the JobPod. Other speakers will include Workforce Development Board Interim Director Claire Bakalars along with Nicolet Federated Library System Director Tracy Vreeke. Refreshments will be served.
