Back in June the McIntosh Memorial Library of Viroqua was forced to cancel the kickoff to the 2026 annual Summer Reading Program due to inclement weather. However, due to strong requests from the public the annual Pet Parade has been rescheduled for Monday, Aug. 17 at 10 a.m.
All are welcome to join the library with their pets, big and small, to take part in this year’s Pet Parade! Three judges will be located on the steps of the Vernon County Courthouse to judge the parade participants in a variety of categories including best dressed, largest animal, smallest animal, most fluffy, and cutest animal owner pairing. All animals are welcome to be involved in the parade including dogs, cats, horses, birds, and even favorite stuffed animals. Prizes will be awarded.
“We’re excited to be able to offer another opportunity for the community to be part of the library Pet Parade” said Youth Services Assistant Aris Lara. “The Pet Parade is a chance for residents to showcase their furry friends.”
All participants are asked to gather inside the library courtyard between 9:30-10:00 on August 17. Accompanied by musicians from Viroqua’s East South Street Band participants will march beginning at 10:00am from the library courtyard to Eckhart Park. The event is open to all youth and families. Registration is encouraged.
