McIntosh Memorial Library partners with Vernon County Over 50 to bring local author to Viroqua

The McIntosh Memorial Library, in partnership with Vernon County Over 50, invites the community to a special author talk featuring journalist-turned-farmer Chris Hardie on Wednesday, August 20th at 2:15 p.m. in the library lobby.

Hardie will discuss his book “Back Home: Country Tales Through the Seasons”, a thoughtful and often humorous collection of essays chronicling his return to the family farm in Jackson County, Wis. After leaving the farm in the early 1980s to pursue journalism, Chris and his wife, Sherry, found themselves drawn back to the landโ€”raising Scottish Highland cattle, sheep, pigs, chickens, and more.

Based on his long-running newspaper column, Back Home captures the rhythms of rural life with wit, warmth, and authenticity. From fixing fences to birthing livestock, Chrisโ€™ stories offer an honest glimpse into the joys and challenges of farm life.

All are welcome to attend. Come ready to laugh, reminisce, and enjoy an afternoon of storytelling that celebrates the spirit of country living.
