The McIntosh Memorial Library in partnership with Valley Stewardship Network (VSN) is hosting an upcoming native plants workshop for youth. Join us for a hands-on presentation at the library on Thursday, June 12 at 3:30 p.m. in the library courtyard. The program led by Genesis Gordon, the Conservation Outreach Specialist for VSN, will lead the program. Gordon will share information about the beauty and benefits of native prairie plants before participants plant their very own Rudbeckia (Black-Eyed Susan) seedling to take home!
Participants will discover how prairie plants like Rudbeckia support pollinators, enrich soil health, and thrive in home landscapes. Gordon will explore plant anatomy, offer care tips, and highlight the ecological value of these hardy natives. All materials are provided, and participants will leave with a young plant to nurture in their own yard. This free event is intended for youth ages 5-9.
Registration for the program is required as space and materials are limited. Register by visiting www.mcintoshmemoriallibrary.org
Questions may be directed to Youth Services Director Emilia Jury at 608-637-7151 Ext. 5.
