VIROQUA, Wis. – McIntosh Memorial Library Youth Services Associate Christopher Olson has been selected to participate in an Astrophysics Game Design Fellowship through UW-Madison. Christopher will represent McIntosh Memorial Library on a team to develop a new desktop educational science game and associated activities.
As part of the Fellowship the team will initially engage in early brainstorming activities to help generate game ideas that will be developed into prototypes by the design team. Olson and others will also test the game and provide feedback as it moves from prototype to a final product. Finally, the Fellowship members will share their professional expertise to help develop a variety of strategies and ideas for implementing the game in different settings, such as classrooms and libraries. The final game will be free to play online.
The Astrophysics Game Design Fellowship is being offered as a partnership between the Wisconsin Ice Cube Particle Astrophysics Center (WIPAC), Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, Field Day (UW-Madison), and the Wisconsin Center for Education Research (UW-Madison).
