McIntosh Memorial Library and Emplify Health to host book discussion and potluck

The McIntosh Memorial Library of Viroqua in partnership with Emplify Health are giving away free books.  We’re excited to offer 20 free copies of the book, “Kitchens of the Great Midwest” by J. Ryan Stradal to the first 20 adults who sign up to join us on Tuesday, November 18 for a book discussion and potluck from 5:30-6:45 p.m.  Registration for the program can be done by visiting the calendar section of the library website at www.mcintoshmemoriallibrary.org

The first 20 people to sign up will be notified to pick up their free book at the library circulation desk.  Even if you don’t win a book reserve a copy through the library system so you can join in on the discussion in November.  Being the book celebrates food all participants are asked to bring a dish to share. 

Author J. Ryan Stradal lives and works in Los Angeles County, California.  His first novel,  Kitchens of the Great Midwest,  was  published by Viking / Pamela Dorman Books  on July 28, 2015, and reached  the  New York Times Hardcover Best Seller list at number 19 on its  third week of release.  

In April 2016, the American Booksellers  Association voted Kitchens  the Indies Choice   Book  of   the Year Award – Adult   Debut   Winner. In July 2016, the Midwest Independent Booksellers Association  awarded  it the  2016 Midwest Booksellers Choice Award for  the year’s top fiction book, and in October 2016, the Southern California Independent Booksellers Association also named   Kitchens the year’s top novel.
