EASTMAN, Wis. — A Minnesota man was airlifted Friday afternoon after falling from a tree stand in a wooded area near Ducharme Ridge Road, according to Crawford County Sheriff Dale McCullick.

At approximately 2:55 p.m. on Sept. 19, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a man who had fallen from a portable tree stand at 61642 Ducharme Ridge Road. Emergency personnel from multiple agencies responded to the scene.

First responders located Mark Prestrud, 67, of Rosemount, Minn., lying on the ground beneath the stand. He had fallen an estimated 20 to 25 feet and sustained severe injuries. A family member was present at the time of the incident.

Due to the seriousness of Prestrud’s condition, a landing zone was established in a nearby field for Gundersen Air. Emergency crews carried him out of the woods, and he was airlifted for medical treatment.

Responding agencies included the Eastman Fire Department, Eastman First Responders, Wauzeka Fire Department, Wauzeka First Responders, Gundersen Ambulance, and Gundersen Air.
