Linda Baker, 76, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at the New Glarus
Home. She was born on July 6, 1949 in Viroqua, Wis. the daughter of Dale and
Geraldine (Crook) Slaback. Linda graduated from Kickapoo High School and
continued her education at UW-Platteville earning a degree in Physical Education.
She would meet Warren Baker on a blind date and they would later be united in
marriage on March 2, 1974 in Readstown, Wis. In addition to being a farm wife,
Linda worked for many years as a nursing aide at St. Clare Hospital and later
Gempeler’s Supermarket in Monticello and Casey’s. She was a member of the Swiss
United Church of Christ in New Glarus and had been involved in 4H and a
homemaker’s group.
Linda is survived by her husband Warren, son Erik, grandchildren Dakoda and Evan.
She is further survived by her sister Pamela (Edward) Fanta, brother-in-law Joseph
Baker, many nieces & nephews, and great-nieces & great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister-in-law Raymond &
Norma Slaback, and niece Traci Slaback.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at the New
Glarus Home Chapel, 600 2nd Ave., New Glarus, WI (enter via the Elm Dr. entrance).
Pat Pluss will officiate.
A gathering of relatives and friends will precede the memorial service from 12:00
noon until time of services on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at the New Glarus Home
Chapel.
The Zentner-Beal Funeral Home of New Glarus is assisting the family.
