Madison, WI – Today, State Senator Brad Pfaff (D-Onalaska) announced that Emma Duell of La Farge High School has been accepted to the 2024 Senate Scholar Program. This week-long, intensive program allows high school juniors and seniors from around the State of Wisconsin to learn more about the legislative process at the State Capitol.
Throughout the week, Senate Scholars meet with legislators, legislative support agencies, legislative staff, the Governor’s staff, a Supreme Court Justice, the media, lobbyists and many others who work in the Capitol. When the Senate is on the floor, Senate Scholars staff the session under the direction of the Senate Sergeant at Arms office. Their activities culminate in a mock legislative hearing on a bill that the Senate Scholars have drafted.
“Congratulations to Emma on your selection to the Senate Scholar Program,” said Pfaff. “This is a tremendous opportunity to learn and grow as a leader in our beautiful, historic State Capitol.”
