STODDARD, Wis. — A La Crosse woman was arrested after a traffic stop in Vernon County and is facing potential drug-related charges, according to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office.
Heather S. Elsbernd, 46, was arrested June 20 following a traffic stop on State Highway 35 near Mallard Lane in the Town of Bergen, Sheriff Roy Torgerson said in a news release.
A sheriff’s deputy stopped Elsbern’s vehicle at about 3:30 p.m. and, following an investigation, she was arrested. Authorities said Elsbernd was booked into the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center on:
- Possession of Methamphetamine
- Possession of Cocaine
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Possession of Fentanyl
Elsbernd also received citations for additional non-criminal traffic violations, authorities said.
Court records show Elsbernd appeared in Vernon County Circuit Court on June 22 and was released on a $1,000 signature bond. She is scheduled to return to court July 8 at 9 a.m.
Formal charges are being sought through the Vernon County District Attorney’s Office.
The investigation remains ongoing.
A criminal charge is only an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
