CRAWFORD COUNTY, Wis, – Crawford County authorities report a La Crosse teen suffered minor injuries after his SUV crashed in a wooded area and then started on fire. According to Crawford County Sheriff Dale McCullick his office received a report of a vehicle on fire along State Highway/US Highway 18 in the Township of Bridgeport at about 1:23 Monday afternoon.
An investigation determined that Tauren Miller-Amunson, 17, of La Crosse, Wis. was operating a sport utility vehicle east on State Highway/US Highway 18, traveled off the left side shoulder then crossed a snow-covered grassy area and crashed into a dense wooded. The report states the vehicle struck numerous trees.
Miller-Amunson was able to exit the vehicle before the same became fully engulfed in flames. Members of the Bridgeport Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. The vehicle was a total loss and towed from the scene by Milo’s Towing Service.
Miller-Amunson did report minor injuries, and he was transported by Gundersen Ambulance to Crossing Rivers Health emergency room. He was cited for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a restricted controlled substance and failure to keep a vehicle under control.
