La Crosse man released on electronic monitoring from Vernon County arrested for domestic violence

LA CROSSE, Wis. – Vernon County Sheriff Roy Torgerson reports the arrest of Alan Charles Kubera, 50, of La Crosse on Saturday, September 9. Sheriff Torgerson reports that Kubera was on court approved electronic monitoring but was not following the conditions of this program.

The Sheriff’s reports goes on to say on September 1, Kubera began serving a 57-day sentence stemming from a conviction on a fourth offense operating with a restricted controlled substance charge, a class H felony. After serving the required initial 48 hours in jail, Kubera was allowed to serve the remainder of his sentence on court-approved electronic monitoring.

Sheriff Torgerson says on Wednesday, September 6, at 9:00 a.m. all contact with Alan Kubera was lost. After ruling out technical problems with the monitoring equipment, the Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the La Crosse Police Department. On September 9, La Crosse Police responded to a domestic violence incident resulting in the arrest of Alan Kubera. Sheriff Torgerson said the incident is an example of the importance of partnerships amongst law enforcement agencies.

The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office will seek formal charges for escape through Vernon County District Attorney Angela Palmer-Fisher. A bail hearing will be scheduled in Vernon County Circuit Court. The Sheriff’s Office will also request the court modify the original sentence to eliminate the ability to serve the remainder of the sentence on electronic monitoring.

The investigation continues by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office.
