Viroqua, WI – The Viroqua Area Chamber is honored to announce that Ken and Kay Deaver have been selected as the Parade Marshals for the 2025 Twinklefest Parade. This recognition celebrates their extraordinary dedication to the Viroqua community, decades of service, and lifelong commitment to lifting up others.
Ken and Kay’s impact spans generations and countless sectors of community life. Both are well known for their leadership in the Toys for Tots program, which they have directed for between 30 and 40 years after volunteering with the program long before taking it over. Their work has ensured that thousands of children across the region experience the joy and magic of the holiday season.
The Deavers have also given extensively of themselves in education, youth development, faith, and service organizations. Ken and Kay spent many years broadcasting local sports, especially wrestling—for WVRQ, strengthening community pride and connection. Kay worked as a beautician in Viroqua for an incredible 61 years, welcoming generations of families through her doors. Ken devoted 12 years as a job coach with VARC and served as a teacher and coach for 38 years, ultimately earning induction into the Viroqua Area Schools’ prestigious Wall of Excellence.
Together, Ken and Kay served on the Vernon County Fair Board for 24 years, contributing to one of the area’s most beloved and historic institutions. Their volunteer involvement also includes work at the Clothes Closet with Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where they have been parishioners for 50 years; running the Reasonable Donation Sale for the past decade; teaching Sunday School; and serving multiple terms on the Viroqua City Council.
Married for 63 years, Ken and Kay have built their lives around faith, family, service, and community. Their compassion, humility, and unwavering dedication have benefited countless local families and strengthened Viroqua in profound and lasting ways.
“Ken and Kay Deaver embody the spirit of Viroqua,” said Niki Steele, Chamber Board President and Deaver family friend. “Their generosity, leadership, and lifelong commitment to others have enriched our community in immeasurable ways. We are proud to honor them as this year’s parade marshals.”
The Twinklefest Parade will take place on Friday, November 28 at 6:00p in downtown Viroqua, kicking off the holiday season with lights, music, and celebration. The Chamber invites the entire community to join in recognizing Ken and Kay Deaver for their decades of remarkable service.
