Iowa motorcyclist hospitalized after losing control in town of Wheatland

TOWN OF WHEATLAND – The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office reports an 18-year-old Iowa motorcyclist was injured after loosing control on State Highway 82, west of Lawrence Ridge Road, in rural De Soto, Wis., in the town of Wheatland on Saturday.

According to the Sheriff’s report at approximately 3:30 p.m., Tristen Joseph Koehn, 18, of Elkader, Iowa was operating a motorcycle on State Highway 82, west of Lawrence Ridge Road, in rural De Soto. Koehn was traveling east and uphill when he reported encountering gravel and lost control in a curve. The motorcycle traveled across the roadway, struck a guardrail. The operator regained control and stopped along the roadway.

Koehn was transported to Gundersen Health System, in La Crosse, WI by Gundersen Tri-State Ambulance.

Assisting the Sheriff’s Office were the Wheatland Fire Department, Wheatland First Responders, De Soto Fire Department, and Gundersen Tri-State Ambulance.

Koehn was wearing a helmet.
