LA CROSSE, Wis. — State Highway 35 has reopened following a two-vehicle head-on crash south of La Crosse that left people with very serious injuries, authorities said.
The crash was reported at about 1:20 p.m. Friday on Highway 35 near Mohawk Valley Road, according to the La Crosse County Sheriff’s Office. Officials initially warned motorists to expect delays in the area.
As the investigation unfolded, authorities closed Highway 35 at Mohawk Valley Road, south of County Road K. The sheriff’s office later said the highway would remain closed for at least two hours while crews investigated the crash scene. Officials estimated the roadway would reopen by 5:30 p.m.
The highway reopened at 6:49 p.m., according to the sheriff’s office.
In an update issued Saturday morning, Sheriff Torgerson said the investigation remains active. He described the collision as a two-vehicle, head-on crash that resulted in very serious injuries.
Additional details about the crash are expected to be released at a later time, authorities said.
