Habitat for Humanity taking applications for affordable family home-ownership through March 31

March 17, 2025

LA CROSSE, Wis – There’s still time to apply for homeownership through Habitat for Humanity of the Greater La Crosse Region. Applications for homes in La Crosse and Hillsboro are open until March 31, 2025.

“This is an incredible opportunity for working families who dream of owning a home but face financial barriers,” said Kahya Fox, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity La Crosse. “With housing costs soaring, we encourage anyone in need of safe, affordable housing to apply before the deadline.”

Habitat for Humanity is currently seeking five families for upcoming home build, two in La Crosse and three in Hillsboro.

Who Can Apply?

Families are selected based on three key criteria:
✔ Need for safe and affordable housing
✔ Ability to afford homeownership
✔ Willingness to partner with Habitat

Selected families work alongside Habitat staff and volunteers to build their homes, contributing at least 150 sweat equity hours. Once complete, homes are sold to the families at full appraised value with a 0% interest mortgage, making homeownership more accessible. Homeowners pay full property taxes and insurance, just like any other homeowner.

How to Apply

Interested families can download an application at www.habitatlacrosse.org or request one by emailing info@habitatlacrosse.org or calling 608-785-2373, ext. 104.
