Gays Mills woman faces OWI charge following one vehicle crash on State Highway 131

CRAWFORD COUNTY, Wis. – The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office reports a 20-year-old woman from Gays Mills was arrested for OWI after she crashed her vehicle on State Highway 13 in the Haney Township.

Accoding to the sheriff on Saturday, December 21. at approximately 1:56 a.m., the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a one vehicle traffic crash on state Highway 131. The operator of the vehicle, Gracie Brandau, 20, of Gays Mills, swerved to miss a deer, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a ditch.

Brandau sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. She displayed signs of impairment, and was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant. The vehicle is believed to be a total loss. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Ocooch Mountain Rescue, Gays Mills Fire Department, and Terry’s Tire & Tow Service.
