Gay Mills man airlifted to La Crosse hospital after rollover crash

Gays Mills, Wis. – Crawford County Sheriff Dale McCullick Reports on Sunday, April 23rd at approximately 11:15 p.m., the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one-vehicle rollover crash on State Highway 131 north of County Road B in the Township of Clayton.

Cole Mickelson, 25, of Gays Mills, was operating a pickup truck north on State Hwy 131 when he on lost control of the truck causing it to overturn into a field. Mickelson was ejected from his truck, sustained serious injuries, and was transported by ambulance to Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua, Wis. After arriving at Vernon Memorial Hospital, Mickelson was air-lifted to Gundersen Health of La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Mickelson was cited for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant, operating with a suspended driver’s license, failure to keep vehicle under control, and not wearing a seatbelt.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Ocooch Mountain Rescue and Milo’s Towing Service.
