July 16, 2026

HILLSBORO, Wis. –– Safe@Home is an introductory program for students in grades 4-6 who are beginning to spend short periods of time home alone, helping students learn how to care for themselves when parents are away and giving them a strong foundation for independence.

Safe@Home will be held Tuesday, July 28 from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at Emplify Health by Gundersen Hillsboro Hospital conference room. The class is free thanks to the support of Gundersen Medical Foundation.

Through Safe@Home, students learn how to:

  • Practice safe habits
  • Prevent unsafe situations
  • Respond to emergencies like power outages and severe weather
  • Use the Safe Sitter® First Aid Chart to assess and respond to minor injuries and illnesses

Families can sign up by visiting the Events tab on Emplify Health by Gundersen Hillsboro Area Facebook page or by contacting Brooke at brooke.mikla@emplifyhealth.org or (608) 489-8126.
