VIROQUA, Wis. – The Viroqua Fire Department reports that on Saturday, March 22 the department was dispatched at about 5:28 a.m. to the Viroqua Family Restaurant at 854 N. Main Street for a report of smoke and flames.
Upon the department’s arrival, heavy smoke and flames were visible coming from the rear of the structure. The fire was brought under control quickly and extinguished. There was heavy fire and heat damage to the back half of the structure. No one was in the structure at the time of the fire. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
The department cleared at approximately 8:41 a.m. Some units stayed on scene for investigation purposes. All units cleared at 6:00 p.m. The origin and cause of the fire is under investigation. Viroqua Fire Chief Chad Buros said state fire marshals were called to help investigate because the building is a commercial structure.
