Emplify Health by Gundersen Hillsboro recognized for quality and patient experience

Nov. 21, 2025

HILLSBORO, Wis. — Emplify Health by Gundersen – Hillsboro is proud to be recognized once again for providing high-quality care and an exceptional patient experience.

In the latest Checkpoint quality rankings from the Wisconsin Hospital Association, Emplify Health by Gundersen – Hillsboro achieved an unplanned readmission rate of just 4.1%, compared to the state average of 9.65% — ranking it in the top 10% of Wisconsin hospitals. The unplanned readmission rate is a critical metric that reflects the quality and effectiveness of care patients receive during their initial hospital stay. A lower rate indicates that patients are less likely to return to the hospital unexpectedly due to complications and are more likely to experience better recovery outcomes.

Additionally, Emplify Health by Gundersen – Hillsboro has been awarded the Chartis Performance Leadership Award for 2025 for the sixth straight year — recognizing it as a top quartile performer in patient quality and experience. This award is presented annually as part of the National Rural Health Day celebration and acknowledges the outstanding performance of rural hospitals in Quality, Outcomes, and Patient Perspective.

“We are incredibly proud of these achievements,” says Kristie McCoic, administrator at Emplify Health by Gundersen – Hillsboro. “Our team works tirelessly to provide the best care for our patients. Being recognized for six consecutive years demonstrates that high-quality care and exceptional patient service are not just temporary goals, but core values embedded in everything we do. I am truly proud of our team.”
