MADISON, Wis. – Jackson Trussoni of the De Soto FFA Chapter has been named the 2026 Wisconsin FFA Turf & Landscape Maintenance Proficiency Award winner. The award recognizes students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement and skill development through work-based learning experiences.
Trussoni’s interest in landscaping began by mowing his family’s lawn. He was then employed for several years by Scapeland LLC, where he primarily maintained properties on Blackhawk Island near De Soto. His responsibilities included mowing, trimming, leaf cleanup, and flood cleanup. Through these experiences, he has developed skills in efficient project completion, quality workmanship, equipment troubleshooting, and residential landscape maintenance.
Trussoni’s FFA Advisor is Hillary Bark. This proficiency area is sponsored at the state level by the Fennimore FFA Alumni & Supporters.
The Wisconsin FFA Association also recognizes the following state finalists in the Turf & Landscape Maintenance Proficiency area:
Second Place: Mason Meier, Mondovi FFA
Third Place: Heath Johnson, Osseo-Fairchild FFA
Fourth Place: Hoyt Dase, Big Foot FFA
Trussoni will learn later this summer whether he has been selected as one of four national finalists in the proficiency area. National finalists compete for top honors at the National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana, this October.
